Are Home Décor Trends Influencing Your Event Design?
So far, 2018 is full of marble and stone, earthy elements and minimalism. But am I talking about décor for your home or décor for you event, or possibly both?! Emerging trends are now overlapping from your living space to your event space, and we can’t complain about that. From elegant to colorful to neat, clean and tidy what we’re seeing in our homes in 2018 is most definitely influencing what we will be seeing in upcoming weddings and events! There are at least five trendy eleMents from home décor that we love for events, so keep reading to learn how you can incorporate them into yours.
- Metallics
Although still very prevalent and trendy, no longer is gold taking the entire spotlight. From geo-terrariums in the home to geos in your centerpieces, metallics are coming in hot this year. For those of us who dread making decisions, this one is for you! Mixing metallics is a hot trend this year. From chrome and silver to bronze and gold, incorporating them all into your event décor can add some dimension while keeping tones neutral to seamlessly compliment almost any color.
- Marble
From linens to cake to centerpieces, marble is a on the rise as a huge trend everywhere! From first seeing this trend become popular for home décor, including mantels, candle holders, coasters, countertops, wall-hangings, pillows and so much more, it was inevitable that this pattern of clean white with sophisticated black markings would make its way into our hearts in the event industry. Geodes, crystals and other stones appearing in bathrooms, living rooms or bedside tables for “good luck”, or simply to add a chic pop of color, are perfect to incorporate into ceremonies, receptions and cocktail hours.
- Minimalism
More and more people are starting to adapt a minimalist lifestyle, whether that be taking more time for themselves and their family, living with less material items and/or giving their homes a simplistic look with a lot more counter and wall space, and a lot less clutter. We’ve done a serious evaluation of the phrase “less is more” and applied it to our lives, homes and now events! A clean look takes on a whole new elegance, and with a simplistic personality, events become more about the celebration. From a simple and neutral color scheme, including white, cream, blush, and light soft colors, to lower and modest centerpieces, weddings and events that adapt this particular trend are not necessarily compromising their style or personality, but instead bringing it to light!
- Moody Palette
If you’re not a minimalist, or still looking to “go big” with your event, this emerging trend is probably for you! Florals, dresses and tuxedos, linens, centerpieces, you name it, are making a bold statement with moody colors. Deep reds, blues, violets, and more are becoming more and more popular this year and are absolutely bringing color back! Since Ultra-Violet was named the 2018 Pantone Color of the Year, we’re seeing these show-stopping color trends in more than weddings and events but also in foods, fashion and home décor. And while the moody color palette is perfect for fall and winter weddings and events, we still have your back when it comes to hosting in spring and summer, by bringing out the bold colors.
- More Textured Materials
Velvet couches and other different textures are creeping up to be a great home décor trend for 2018. With more textures in the home, such as lace, velvet and even macramé they are also trending in weddings and events! Table cloths, napkins and even décor items are being mixed and matched by a variety of textures. Velvet, sequin, lace overlays, and even crush and crinkle linens are taking precedence over the basic poly or satin linens to give a more modern and trendy look and “feel” to weddings and events.
