FOUR WAYS TO PERSONALIZE YOUR EVENT
Weddings, showers, birthday parties, Mitzvahs, anniversary parties and other celebrations are a direct reflection of the people being honored and celebrated. So, in a world where Pinterest and other social media sites have so many great ideas to utilize, it’s also important to be conscious and still incorporate your own personality and story into your event. From the most basic elements to the most elaborate moments of your event, weaving in your individuality and uniqueness is key to making your event stand out from the rest!
When guests walk into your event, do you want them to immediately feel and know it’s yours? Finding the perfect balance between ideas you love but never would have thought of on your own and things that totally scream your name can be tricky. Luckily, we pointed out a few ways to help personalize your event and how to add your own exceptional touch. Here are just a few ideas to help get your creative juices flowing!
1.Color
When starting to plan for an event, one thing most people ask themselves first is “what color or theme do I want my event to revolve around?” Color can be a fantastic way to start personalizing your event! Is it predictable that your bridesmaids will be wearing your favorite color, purple? Or that the table clothes will be your favorite color, green? What about something a little more unique, for instance eye color! Does your fiancé or the person you are honoring have bright blue eyes that everyone notices? Think of what other colors might remind you of your fiancé, if you are planning a wedding, or family member or friend you are honoring that day.
2.Places
Depending on the type of event you are having, incorporating or even having the event at a particular place can be a fun way to relive memories or get excited about an upcoming trip or special day. A trip abroad, for example can be something that you have wonderful memories to share from or a place you will be visiting soon, either on a honeymoon, or to study or live for a while, or maybe you have family roots there! What elements from this place can you tie into your event? Food, décor, traditions? Another significant place can be a restaurant or venue where you and your fiancé first met, or had your first date. Or maybe there’s a place you go with friends or family and have inspiring memories. It can be a venue that would be the perfect spot for your event, or you can recreate the space or model your event after this place. Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box!
3.Activites
Personal hobbies, sports, notable music or movies, or even your favorite things to do during the month or season of your event can be used as inspiration. Don’t hold back! Think of things you’ve done or seen with your fiancé or the person you are honoring, that hold meaning. Did you enjoy cooking with your parents growing up? Or skiing every weekend? Are there games you want to play at the event, favors, décor or food to reflect this activity? Weaving in your unique personality is the key to telling your story with your event! Your likes, dislikes, special moments and memories help make up you are, so let it shine through your event!
4.Memory Table
A significant element often found at events such as weddings, anniversary parties, engagement soirees, etc. is a memory table. A specialty table with photos of loved ones, maybe of loved ones who have passed away, is a wonderful way to add personal touches that family and friends will also treasure. A memory table is an incredible way to honor friends and family members and remember those who you have/had a meaningful bond with. Memory tables don’t have to be simply photos but can also include some favorite flowers, unique mementos or candles with a noteworthy scent.
